Welcome from the BGSA Presidents

Welcome to the Biology and Wildlife Graduate Student Association! The BGSA is an organization for all current Biology and Wildlife graduate students. During the academic year, we meet monthly to discuss grad-student issues, plan events and activities, and socialize among ourselves. For questions about the BGSA, our meetings, or general information in the Biology and Wildlife department, contact us at jjbadger@alaska.edu (co-president Janelle Badger) or jmeisaguirre@alaska.edu (co-president Joe Eisaguirre), or keep in touch via the BSGA Facebook Page!

Graduate Student Association Meetings

We typically meet the first Friday of every month at 4 pm.  All graduate students in the Biology & Wildlife Department are encouraged to attend.

We will be hosting the 8th Annual Midnight Sun Science Symposium on April 13th and 14th, 2017 in the first floor of the Murie Building. To find out more or submit an abstract, please visit our site . The Midnight Sun Science Symposium is an interdisciplinary research conference held at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Organized by the BGSA, the symposium is for undergraduate or graduate students in the natural sciences interested in presenting their work or finding new collaborators in the far north.

If you are interested in helping out with this year's Midnight Sun Science Symposium, please contact Janelle or Joe.

BioBites Seminar Series

What is BioBites?

BioBites is the Graduate Student Seminar Series. It is a great, casual way to obtain feedback on your work. BioBites provides a forum for practicing a talk you might be presenting at a national or international conference, and interacting with other students and faculty in the department. Presentations range from 20 minutes to one hour and the format is flexible. Research proposals, research in progress, and finished theses are all welcome.

When is BioBites?

Our next BioBite Seminar will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at 12:30 pm. Location is TBD. Anyone interested on sharing their work should contact Rachel Voight (rlvoight@alaska.edu)
