Biology & Wildlife Areas of Study
Genetics and Evolutionary Biology
Ten faculty members study processes and patterns of evolution in plant and animal species. Their research includes the evolution of brain function, coevolution of plant-insect and plant-fungal mutualisms, molecular evolution, and the evolution of plant reproduction. Our new DNA sequencing facility provides state-of-the-art resources for studying evolutionary relationships among organisms. Research programs also include bioinformatics, genetics of human diseases, genomics, immunogenetics, molecular evolution, and population genetics.
